Dedication

We had Micah dedicated on December 19 at our church, The Chapel. It was a special day and we were so happy to have many of our family members there as well. Child dedication is simply a time where as parents we dedicate not only our child to the Lord but also dedicate to raising him to love and know God as his personal savior and live his life for Him. That is our primary goal as parents above all else that is our hope and what we pray for for Micah. Child dedication is not child baptism as Pastor Phil explained during the service. We believe that the bible teaches that baptism is done after one has accepted Jesus as their savior so we of course hope and pray that day will come for Micah. Baptism does not wash away sin but is an outward representation of the change that happens in one's heart. With all that being said, Phil was preaching that Sunday on the promises of God so he encouraged us to be parents of integrity and parents who keep their word. He said you shouldn't have to say to your child, "On Saturday we'll go play ball, I PROMISE." You should just have to say, "On Saturday we'll go play ball" b/c your child knows that when you say something it will happen b/c you are a person of integrity. I thought that was a good reminder for me. We are so thankful to be Micah's parents yet we know what a huge responsibility it is and are thankful we aren't on our own through this journey.

Of course Micah was adorable during the dedication and his little personality just shown through. Here are a few pics from the morning....
