What do you think?

Adelyn and Micah at 5 months old.  Think they look alike?

Adelyn at 5 months

Our sweet little Adelyn is 5 months old and she sure is sweet.  She is very smiley (of course not for the camera though) and has a cute little laugh.  She laughs when you tickle/kiss her neck.  She is rolling over lots and is liking her bumbo seat more and more. She however still loves to be held and we are getting our moneys worth out of that baby bjorn.  She also sucks her thumb constantly which has been awesome and a great way to keep her content.  She chews on everything and I keep thinking that maybe a tooth will be coming through soon.  Her eyes are still blue (though Micah's didn't change until about 1 year) and she is still pretty bald (well has a bit of a mullet in the back).  She is on a good schedule.  Sleeps from about 730-730 and still wakes 1-2 times per night (though most of this week it has only been once and she goes right back to sleep) and takes 3 naps/day.  It is great b/c most days her and Micah will take about a 3 hour nap at the same time (though for Micah that means he isn't going to bed until the 9 o'clock hour but thats ok).  I think we are also gonna start solids this month.

Micah loves his little sister!!!  He loves when she smiles at him and he loves to get in the crib with her in the morning when she wakes up.  He likes to give her toys though he tells her "no baby don't eat it" as of course everything goes right in her mouth.  He also tells her things like "baby you look pretty"  and sometimes if Corey is doing something to her Micah will say "No daddy that's my baby!"  It is fun to start to see the two of them interact.  What a sweet girl she is!!!!  She is very loved!

Potawatomi Zoo

Last Friday Corey took the day off and we ventured down the South Bend for the day. It was a beautiful day for the zoo.  There is a big playground right at the zoo entrance so we played for a while and then ate our picnic lunch then went to the zoo.  It is a small zoo and didn't have a lot of big animals (no elephants or giraffe) but it was good enough for Micah.  Honestly...Micah wasn't all that impressed by the animals.  However (as you might be able to guess) he was thrilled by the school buses in parking or the workers that drove by in the golf carts.  There was some big animal that Corey was pointing out to Micah and he looked right past and it was so excited to see a lawn mower.  Haha!  Next time we said we'll just take him to a parking lot and let him look around!!!!  Micah did ride the train around the zoo so that was probably the highlight!  After the zoo it was nap time so we attempted to do naps in the car. Corey was sweet and drove me to the mall and sat in the car while the kids slept so I could do a little shopping. I only had about 45 minutes so I couldn't do too much damage but it was good. We tried to take both kids in the mall once they woke up but after about 15 minutes decided it wasn't worth it. (Now you must understand where we live there is no mall so these days going to an actual mall is a big deal!!!) We headed to Famous Dave's for dinner and then got ice cream and drove home. It was a good day together though Corey and I were both pretty exhausted by the time we got home.

Happy Mother's Day 2012

After Adelyn's dedication on Mother's Day we had my mom, Jeff, Jori, Lily, Kolby, Britton, and Ruby (Jeff's mom) over to celebrate both Mother's Day and Kolby's (25th) and Jori's (17th) birthday.  Lily said it best when she commented during the day "I love when we all get together"!

Adelyn's Dedication

On Mother's Day this year we had  Adelyn dedicated at church.  It was special as we had lots of family there!!!  Through dedication we are publicly showing that we desire and will strive to raise Adelyn to know Jesus as her personal savior and live her life for Him. She is the only one who can make that decision but as parents there is nothing more we want for our children than that!!!!  What a huge responsibility yet awesome privilege raising children is!!!
