Berrien County Youth Fair

I haven't been to a youth fair in years but I knew that Micah would have a blast so we spent an afternoon a few weeks back at the local fair. We meet up with Nancy (Corey's mom), Corey's Aunt Jane, Uncle Ted, and Grandma. We checked out the animals (the usuals like cows, pigs, sheep, rabbits, etc) and Micah liked them but wasn't nearly as thrilled as he was when we made our way over to the tractors. He loves pretty much any type of automobile (he can say car, truck, boat, bus, train--chew, chew--, tractor, motorcycle, airplane, and bike if that tells you anything). He was so excited to be to climb and play on a fire truck and also the big tractors. We didn't even have time to check out any rides though I'm not sure Micah would have been big enough for any. And of course what is the fair without a corn dog, cheese fries, and elephant ear so we definitely enjoyed those!!! :) Later that evening we met up with my dad, Jamie, sisters, and grandparents to watch my sister, Reagan, perform at the talent show. She did an awesome job performing a dance she made up and look at how cute she is!! It was a good day and I'm sure we'll be back next year.

Chicago

Last Friday Corey, Micah, Nancy, and I made a day trip to Chicago (Corey's dad was supposed to go but just started a new job last week....). We met up with Corey's sister, Jessica, who lives right near downtown. We checked out her place and then walked to the Lincoln Park Zoo. It was a beautiful day and best of all the zoo is free. Micah liked looking at the animals but he really loved the barn area where he could sit on the tractor! :) After the zoo we headed to meet up with Jessica's boyfriend (Matt) at Pei Wei for dinner. Pei Wei was one of our favorite spots to eat when we lived in Phoenix as we had one down the road from us and it is good food (owned by PF Changs) and inexpensive. After dinner it was time for Micah to go to bed so we headed home and he slept in the car. It was a fun day!!!! Hopefully we can do it again sometime soon.

(It was so cute Micah just started doing this funny smile when we asked him to say cheese!)

Cousins visit

My sister, Shelby and her kids (Riley, Lincoln, and Emmersyn) were back here at the end of July. We had a great time, as always, hanging out. Of course I forgot my camera for most of the times we were together but I did manage to snap a few shots while they were at our place. We also had fun blueberry picking though with 4 kids didn't get as many blueberries picked as we would have liked (thankfully my step-mom and little sisters came otherwise not sure we would have gotten any picked). It was cute though they had little tin cans for the kids to tie around their waste and put the blueberries in. They had fun. Otherwise we pretty much just hang out with family and did a family picnic at the park one night too. So nice to be in driving distance now instead of on opposite ends of the country (AZ and WV).

San Diego Summer 2010

I'm a little behind with this post but at the end of June Corey, Micah, and I headed to San Diego for a work conference/vacation. We had a great time, but wow traveling with a 16 month old sure isn't easy. It's funny b/c we traveled a lot when Micah was a baby and thought that was difficult. Looking back it was so much easier and what I wouldn't have given this plane ride to have a child who couldn't move. :) I won't say the plane ride was disastrous as we did arrive safely but it was a very long trip. Micah is just at the age where sitting still just doesn't work and he is so social that he just had to talk to everyone on the plane. He was a bit out of control, but we made it. :) Anyways, we spent the first part of our trip staying with friends and doing some of the tourist things. We went to Sea World for a day, went to Balboa park, spent an afternoon on Coronado Island, and just enjoyed our time in San Diego. Micah was still probably a bit young for Sea World (but we had tickets from last year that could be reused so it didn't cost us anything extra) as he was just as amused with the ceiling fans as he was with Shamu! :) He did have fun though and The second half of the trip was the conference which for me wasn't as easy b/c Corey pretty much was busy all day. Thankfully we were at a nice resort so Micah and I spent lots of time outside walking, swimming, etc.

All in all it was a great trip and we were thankful we were able to go.
(Our camera broke about 3 days into the trip so here are some of the pics we were able to get)
