San Diego Summer 2010

I'm a little behind with this post but at the end of June Corey, Micah, and I headed to San Diego for a work conference/vacation. We had a great time, but wow traveling with a 16 month old sure isn't easy. It's funny b/c we traveled a lot when Micah was a baby and thought that was difficult. Looking back it was so much easier and what I wouldn't have given this plane ride to have a child who couldn't move. :) I won't say the plane ride was disastrous as we did arrive safely but it was a very long trip. Micah is just at the age where sitting still just doesn't work and he is so social that he just had to talk to everyone on the plane. He was a bit out of control, but we made it. :) Anyways, we spent the first part of our trip staying with friends and doing some of the tourist things. We went to Sea World for a day, went to Balboa park, spent an afternoon on Coronado Island, and just enjoyed our time in San Diego. Micah was still probably a bit young for Sea World (but we had tickets from last year that could be reused so it didn't cost us anything extra) as he was just as amused with the ceiling fans as he was with Shamu! :) He did have fun though and The second half of the trip was the conference which for me wasn't as easy b/c Corey pretty much was busy all day. Thankfully we were at a nice resort so Micah and I spent lots of time outside walking, swimming, etc.

All in all it was a great trip and we were thankful we were able to go.
(Our camera broke about 3 days into the trip so here are some of the pics we were able to get)

Daddy's little helper...

Corey washed the cars this weekend (they hadn't been washed in months so it overdue I'm sure :) and Micah was such a good little helper. He had so much fun and was so cute that even the neighbors came over to take pictures!

Micah Swim Lessons

Trying to get a few more pics added to this album but its not working right now. Anyways, here is a pic of Micah's first swim lesson at the Y. I'm not exactly sure he is learning a whole lot but he is having fun. Plus several of my friends and their kids are in the class too so I'm having fun as well.

He's so sweet...

ok so Micah is also such a stinker at times too. Like today when we were at ACE hardware and he thought it would be fun game to run through the aisles and make me chase him (he wasn't in a cart b/c i only needed 1 thing). Or like this past weekend when my sister Jori was visiting and I temporarily left the dishwasher I was unloading unattended only to find Micah walking into the bathroom (where Jori was) with a huge butcher knife. Or like when we are eating and he throws the food he doesnt' want on the ground. Or like when he knows he is doing something wrong and I'm coming to get him and he takes off running as fast as he can. Yes, he is definitely a stinker.

But he is also so sweet. Like when....

I was getting ready this morning and Micah was being too quiet so I came out to check on him. He was sitting at the kitchen table (he can now get up on the kitchen chairs) with his hands folded saying amen...he was praying. I know he was praying b/c he always folds his hands (or if we are praying he likes hold hands) and says amen when we are done.

Or like when....
On our hardware store trip today we pulled into the parking lot and saw a silver malibu (the same car that Corey drives) and Micah got so excited and said "Dada". I was pretty impressed....usually he thinks any silver car is Corey's, it is very cute.

Or like when...
Yesterday Micah was playing in the spare bedroom (which is now empty besides an old dresser but will become the nursery) and again was being too quite. I walked in and of course noticed that he had ransacked the dresser and emptied the drawer with baby stuff. But also noticed that he was sucking on a pacifier....Micah has never (except maybe very briefly as a baby) taken a pacifier but he thought it was pretty funny.

Like I said, he is a stinker but he is so sweet.

Our big news...

Ok, so I'm a little bit late at posting our big news thus many of you already know. But for those of you who don't we are expecting baby #2 on January 1, 2013.

I am a little over 15 weeks along now and thankfully starting to feel pretty good (well, that is as good as you can feel for being pregnant). The nausea and morning sickness is pretty much gone and I'm starting to get a little more energy as well. I was not nearly as sick as I was with Micah so for that I am thankful however, I had forgotten how incredibly exhausted you can be during the first trimester. It was like all I wanted to do was sleep and no matter how much sleep I got it wasn't enough. I'm still tired now but then again I am chasing around a 17 month old who has a lot of energy and also have not been sleeping great. Thankfully I can nap everyday when Micah does and even though that means the house isn't as clean as I would like it and the laundry is piling up I definitely am taking advantage of sleeping when I can. Thankfully I have an understanding husband who doesn't mind helping out.

Otherwise the pregnancy has been good. I've had 2 doctor appointments thus far and one ultrasound. I think that no matter how many kids I have it will always be amazing to see a baby at only 9 weeks moving its little arms and seeing its little heart beating. How amazing to know that we have such a awesome creator.

I found out I was pregnant on April 30th. It was a Saturday night probably about 10pm and Corey was in bed reading. I had had a sneaking suspicion for about a day so I decided to do a pregnancy test. It came back positive immediately and the thought crossed my mind that I should wait and come up with some creative way to tell Corey but I knew I wouldn't be able to wait. So, I just asked him if he could come into the bathroom and his first thought was that there was a lightbulb out. I know....kinda random but we've been having problems with these lights in our bathroom. So you can imagine his surprise when instead of seeing a light out he saw this...

I think it took the news longer for me to sink in and process than it did Corey as he was pretty much instantly excited.

We told our families a few weeks later (May 14 and 15) and they too were all excited. We told my dad and step-mom and Corey's parents in the same way. We had some pink and blue paint samples and since we still have some house projects of which painting is one of then it was fitting to ask them for an opinion on paint colors. Anyways, we showed them the pink and blue paint samples and then told them we wanted to paint the spare bedroom and see what color they liked. Our dads were a little slow to catch on but Corey's mom and my step-mom got it. The next day was Jori's 16th surprise birthday party and all my family was going out to Chilis to celebrate. So, we signed Jori's card --Corey, Kasey, Micah, and Baby#2. She kinda glanced over it but then when she re-read it she blurted out Kasey is pregnant and everyone screamed. The whole restaurant looked at us like we were crazy and if they knew that in 5+ months there would be another baby at our table they probably would have thought we were crazy!!! :)

So, that is our big news. We are of course excited and thankful for this little life. I will admit I am already tired thinking about having a newborn and chasing around a 2 year old...but I know it will be so worth it. We'll keep you posted along the way. And as soon as I get the ultrasound pics scanned in I'll post those too.

16 months old

At 16 months Micah continues to be such a sweet, loving, out-going, and incredibly energetic little guy. After our recent trip to San Diego (which I will blog about soon) Corey gave Micah the nickname "Mad Dog", Micah Mad Dog Kugle...has a nice ring huh??? He is quit a handful but we love him.

Micah loves dogs, fans, trucks and any other big vehicle, lawn mowers, reading books, wrestling with daddy, piggyback rides, swimming, being outside, going for walks, the park and the beach, music, the sprinkler, pots and pans and of course kitchen utensils...and so much more. Micah gets so excited when we are outside and sees a dog. You will be able to see from some of the pics below that he noticed that dogs stick out their tongues and pant and so now he does the same thing. It is really cute. He also continues to be obsessed with fans. First thing in the morning when he wakes up he has to go to every room in the house to make sure the fans are on...he just can't function until all the fans are on. He loves to wave at cars/trucks that drive by on the road and say bye. I have even put a stool in front of our window facing the road so he can watch the cars drive by and also say hi to the neighbors. He continues to be such an out-going little guy and he just loves people (especially other kids his age). If we are out to dinner (which let me tell you is not all that fun with him these days) he just wants down so he can walk around to every table and say hi. And if we are out and there is another little kid he will get right in their face so he can say hi. And babies too, he loves babies. Micah will give hugs and kisses, though he is a bit stingy with those. He does love to hug grandpa though. Micah has tons of energy....I wish I had even half of it. He loves to run and just doesn't stop until he is in bed.

He is jabbering all the time now and has several words. He says mama, dada, hi, bye, more (it sounds like mama but he usually signs it as well), mow-mow (lawn mower), amen (which he says after we are done praying it is so cute), ball, uh-oh (which he says often and especially if he sees a fan that isn't on), no-no (he says it in a very cute manner but also in a way in which he really means no) and I'm sure more that I am forgetting. He also knows where his teeth, ears, eyes, nose, and head are. One of his favorite songs is This Little Light of Mine and he even does the hand motion.

Micah is on a pretty good schedule. I'd say it was close to 15 months before he gave up his morning nap but now he just takes one nap daily. Usually around 11:30 or 12 and he will sleep for 2+ hours. He goes to bed around 7:30 and sleeps till 6:30 or 7. I'd say he is also a pretty good eater though he is hit or miss. One night he may love something and the next he will have nothing to do with it. Though if it is bread he will never turn that down. Meat is probably the hardest thing I have getting him to eat.

Here are some pics of the little guy...

We spent Memorial Day up at my mom's on Gull Lake. It was a beautiful day so we were able to get out on the lake and even grilled some steaks...ymmm. Corey, Jori, and Kolby went tubbing. The rest of us hung out on the boat. This was Micah's first boat ride and he slept through the whole thing.

We also celebrated my sister's (Jori) 16th birthday with a surprise party at Chilis. Hard to believe that she turned 16 considering she was only 3 when Corey and I started dating.

The cousins: Emmersyn, Riley, Lincoln, and Micah

Micah enjoying the warm weather in the backyard. He also got his first experience with a Popsicle.

(you can see in this pic not only how messy he was with his popsicle but also that he is signing for more)

We made a trip to Indy to visit our good friends Craig, Angela, and Nolan. We didn't have tons of time but it was fun as usual to be together. Nolan is just about 3 months older than Micah and they had so much fun playing together. We even got to go to the zoo which was lots of fun.

(I'm not sure why these pics are so small but if you blow this one up you will notice Micah is imitating their dog)

Micah on the stool watching for cars and for our neighbors to wave to.

Well, guess that's a good overview for you and moreso for me so i can remember what our sweet little Micah was like a 16 months.
