Trip to CO

Well, as I said in a previous post, we went to Monument, CO (about 15 miles outside of Colorado Springs) this past weekend to check out a church. We had a good trip and have 2 more church visits planned in the next couple of weeks. Corey will be going to California this coming weekend and then we will all be going to MI in 2 weeks. We are looking forward to seeing what God has in store...

So, our trip started like this (see pic below!) Micah had a MAJOR diaper explosion on our ride down from the airport. Of course I didn't realize it until we arrived at the people's house who we were staying with. So we showed up at their door and went straight to strip off Micah's clothes and give him a bath (well, a sink bath that is). This picture cracks me up, I love how he's got his arms up and just looks like he's relaxing and enjoying himself.

We had a free afternoon on Saturday so we ventured down to Colorado Springs. If you've never visited it is a beautiful place.

Self portraits

We went to Garden of the Gods and it was really neat! You can hike (which we would have done but didn't have the time) and also drive your car up through the mountains and red rocks. Definitely neat to see the beauty of creation!

So those are a few pics from CO, we'll keep you posted on our other trips.

Micah Rolling Over...

I was able to capture Micah on video when he rolled over yesterday. He wasn't very happy at this moment in time but atleast you can see him rolling over. He has been rolling over constantly...it doesn't matter where he is or what he is doing. Getting his diaper changed, playing on the floor, in bed, etc. The only problem is that like I said before he can't get back over so he gets really mad. Last night he woke up twice b/c he was upset that he was on his tummy.

Also, I finally (well, Corey got it all set up for me) figured out how to download videos from the camcorder to the computer so now I can start posting videos as well. More to come later...

It's official...

Micah is rolling over!

A few days ago I had Micah propped on a pillow on his back on our bedroom floor while I was making the bed. Before I knew it he had flipped to his tummy, I put him back on his back and he flipped again and did this 4 times. Anyways, I figured the pillow was helping him but yesterday and today he has been rolling from his back to his tummy. You can tell it still takes a little effort for him but it's cute b/c he is definitely proud of himself after he does it. I'm looking at him right now in the monitor and he is on his stomach. He always sleeps on his back but now that he can roll I guess he can do what he wants (though he can't roll from tummy to back yet) so we'll see how he sleeps tonight.

Other than that, he has also started to eat some veggies. After the hard time I had with cereal, I figured we move on the veggies and I can always hide some of the cereal in his other food. Yesterday I made acorn and butternut squash and froze some for later. We tried the butternut squash yesterday and today. He didn't do great with it last night, whined and cried a bit. He is usually fussy in the evenings though so I thought that may have been part of it. So...I tried again this morning as he is usally very happy in the am. He did a pretty good job...well besides the fact that he hates wearing a bib and he wants me to hold him while he eats! I'll tell you...he sure is particular for a 5 1/2 month old. :)

Trip to Cali

We decided to make a road trip to San Diego to escape the Phoenix heat and go to the beach and SeaWorld. We headed to CA first thing Monday morning and returned on Wed afternoon. It was a short trip, but we had a great time. It is about a 6 hour drive and for the most part Micah did pretty well (especially considering he isn't a big fan of being in his carseat). We did have one major meltdown on the way home so that made for a bit of a long drive home!!!

Anyways, our first stop was in Yuma (at about the half way mark) to feed Micah and get some In-N-Out Burger. If you've never heard of or had In-N-Out Burget it is only on the west coast. We typically don't eat fast food but this is good stuff...we have one right down the road from us but we are pretty good and don't eat there very often. Their menu consists of burger, fries, and milk shakes and that is it. Here is Micah with his official In-N-Out Burger hat.

Next stop Coronado Island! Corey and I were there about one year ago. We were talking about our trip there last year b/c I was just a month or so pregnant w/ Micah. Now this year instead of being pregnant we got to take our little guy there. The weather was cool about 65 and cloudy, actually San Diego has been having an unseasonably cool summer. I sure didn't complain though as it beats 115 degrees!!! We didn't spend much time at the beach, just walked along the ocean and walked down the Hotel Del Coronado. Micah was having a good time until he picked up a first full of sand and threw it in his eye.

We stayed with friends while we were in CA so after the beach we went back to their place for dinner. Tuesday we woke up early (oh wait, that is nothing new these days!) to head to SeaWorld. The weather was perfect probably 70 degrees but cool in the shade. There really is no where that has better weather than San Diego if you ask me. Micah had a good day at SeaWorld. It was a long day for him as he wasnt' able to get his usual naps. He took several short naps in his Moby Wrap but there was just too much going on around him to sleep. He seemed very interested but I am sure it was mostly just all the different colors. He really liked the fish aquariums.

The Shark Exhibit has a moving sidewalk type thing where you go through a tunnel and the sharks are all around you. It was pretty cool.

We saw 2 shows the first of which is a new show called Blue Horizons, it combines the dolophins/whales with acrobatics. You can see Micah was intently watching.

More fun....

The Arctic Exhibit consisted of Beluga whales, penguins, walrus, sea lions, polar bears and more. I love the pic below where Micah is face-to-face with the walrus.

Here are a few pics of Micah having fun with daddy! You'll notice that in lots of the pictures Micah was too enthralled with whatever was around him to look at the camera. I don't think these first few photos look like Micah but they are cute nonetheless.

Corey thought I needed my picture taken next to this cow! :)

If you look closely you may see that Corey is standing on one leg...ahhhh, why you may ask yourself? Oh, he is just imitating the flamingos b/c this is how they stand! He sure is something! :)

**Fun Fact: Do you know why Flamingos are pink? It is b/c they eat shrimp. This may come in handy if you are ever on Jeopardy or Millionaire! :)

And of course, what would SeaWorld be w/o Shamu. It is amazing how BIG those killer whales are. The second show we saw was called Believe and it was the Shamu show. This was at the end of our evening and Micah had pretty much had enough. Corey had to take him out so he could walk around with him but it also was a good show.

And that was our trip in a nutshell. It was a good trip, just wish we had more time. We were talking about how in Micah's 5 months of life he has been to both coasts and been in both the Atlantic and Pacific ocean. Not to mention he has already been on 3 plane rides and next week we are going to Colorado so that will make four. As a side note, Corey is searching for a job right now so that is why we are going to CO. We will be visiting a church as a potential job for Corey. Anyways, we'd definitely appreciate your prayers right now as we seek God's guidance and wait on Him!
