37 Week MD appointment

I had my 37 week MD appointment today....only 3 weeks to go, can you believe it? We are so excited to meet this little guy!! My appointment went well. I had an exam done and I am dilated 1 cm and about 40% effaced. Not to get too excited though...it could still be several weeks. She said that the baby is pretty low (though it doesn't really seem like it) because when she was doing the exam she said could feel his head. We asked if he had hair but I don't think she could tell! haha :) I also found out that my Group B Strep test came back positive so that means I will have to have IV antibiotics when I go into labor to hopefully prevent the baby from getting the bacteria. Otherwise all else is well!!!

35 1/2 weeks

Here's an updated picture. I realized I haven't done a very good job keeping up. This week coming up (Wednesday to be exact) I will be 36 week! Yeah!!! Only 4 more weeks to go. I now start going to the MD every week so things are moving along. We are also taking a tour of the hospital we will be delivering at (Banner Desert) and we also scheduled an appointment to meet our pediatrician(s) this coming week. We are starting to make some check marks on our to-do list.

Otherwise all else has been well. I actually went in this past week on Tuesday for an unscheduled OB appointment. On Monday morning when I woke up I felt like the baby wasn't moving like he had been. I went through the day and the night with the same nagging feeling but when I awoke the next morning still feeling the same I decided to call the MD office. They said I could either go to the hospital or come in, so I went in to the office. I saw the NP and she listened to the heartbeat and she felt the baby and she said all seemed well. I think that was all the reassurance I needed. She said the baby is probably getting big enough to where he doesn't have as much room to move so the kicks/movements might not be as pronounced. He's definitely been moving around a lot though since then. It's one of those situations where you don't want to worry about nothing but then again you don't want to do nothing if there is a problem. I am very blessed and thankful for a smooth pregnancy.

My sister, Jori, also came into town this weekend to visit. Corey picked her up from the airport Friday morning and I only worked a half day. I just took her back to the airport this morning. It was a fun weekend with her...we went to a movie with our church (To Save a Life), played frisbee golf, went shopping, and more. Most of all it was just great to spend time with her. We are looking forward to more visitors once the baby arrives.

Update

Well...I'm very behind on keeping up with the blog. The last post I did was at 28 1/2 weeks and today I am 34 weeks! Only 6 more to go.

I'll try to give you a quick recap of the last month....

Prior to going home (well..back to MI) for Christmas Corey and I made our annual gingerbread houses! He claims that he doesn't like this tradition, but deep down I think he really does! :)

We were back in MI for about 1 1/2 weeks and it was GREAT to spend time with our families. We never have enough time though. I didn't do a very good job of getting many pictures while we were home, but here are a few.

I tried to upload a few videos of us doing Wii American Idol and Rock Band but can't get the videos to work. They are pretty funny. I especially like the one of my brother, Kolby, signing Spice Girls!!! If you could see (well, actually hear) the videos you'd be able to tell that between Corey and I our little guy is not going to have any chance at musical talent! :)

My mom and sisters (and sister-in-law) also had a baby shower for me while I was home! It turned out great and was a special night! I appreciate all the hard work they put into it. The little guy got lots of great gifts and is definitely very loved already!

We came back to Phoenix on New Year's Day. The next weekend we flew to San Diego for an interview with a church we've been communicating with. Corey graduates in May and is looking for a position as a pastor. We are now just waiting and praying to see what God has in store for us. We know He has a plan...even though we don't know what it is yet!

That pretty much brings you up to date with us. As far as the pregnancy goes, I have another routine MD appointment tomorrow. We also took a prepared childbirth class and found a pediatrician. So we are starting to get prepared....well at least as prepared as you can be! :)

28 (and 1/2) weeks

Well this past weekend Corey and I went to look at Christmas lights. In the foothills of the mountains near where we live people go all out with their Christmas lights. So, we've made in an annual tradition to go each year and look at the lights. And of course, what would the "Annual Christmas Light Extravaganza" be without Christmas music, santa hats, and hot chocolate. Well..this year Corey said it was too warm for hot chocolate so he wanted a slushie instead! :) Haha, guess that's December in AZ for ya!

28 1/2 weeks

This picture is really blurry but you get the idea. I don't think there was one square inch of this house that wasn't covered in lights.

Another way to tell it's Christmas time in AZ--the decorated Cactus!

We fly back to MI in less than one week. We are very excited to go home, see family, and celebrate Christmas!!!!

26 weeks

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, we did! We took advantage of the nice weather and went for a hike on South Mountain Thanksgiving morning. The afternoon was spent finishing preparations for dinner and then we went to friends for our Thanksgiving meal (pot-luck style). We missed being home but are already looking forward to going home for Christmas!

We have so much to be thankful for! We are obviously thankful for this little baby whose arrival we anxiously await! I am thankful for Corey and for our marriage, thankful for family and friends, thankful for the immeasurable blessings God has given us, and most of all thankful for the gift of salvation God has given us through His Son!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

24(1/2) week update

Well, sorry it's been so long since I've posted. I guess there haven't really been a whole lot of updates, not to mention I am pretty exhaused most nights after work. Right now it's 5 am and I've been awake since 3:30 so I figured I might as well do a post. I (obviously) still haven't been sleeping well, still waking up throughout the night w/ my back and hips just aching. The heating pad and the wedge pillow which a friend let me borrow have been helping a bit. You sure can get a lot done when you are up at 3:30 though....I've already done a load of laundry, got the roast going for lunch today, did dishes, and now blogging! Haha, I just figured I better do stuff now b/c I will be worthless this afternoon after church.

As far as pregnany updates go the only big thing that is new (well, since about 22 weeks) is that this little guy has been kicking/moving a lot!!! When I feel him move I am just again in awe at the miracle God is allowing us to be a part of!!! Corey has been able to feel him kicking too. A week or so ago Corey said that he felt him kicking at 3 am (while I was sleeping) so he said they stayed up and "played". Haha, I told him that the baby is not allowed to play at 3 am, he's supposed to be sleeping....otherwise I am giving him the 3am shift once the baby is born! :)

I did have an MD appt at 23 weeks and again we are thankful that all went well with nothing to report.

So, guess that's all the news here. I know I need to post a new picture, and I will soon, I promise. I am just not sure the no make-up, wild hair, robe and slippers look I have going right now is the cutest! Haha!
