To know or not to know....

So I had a 10 week ultrasound back in Aug (8/16/13 to be exact).  During the pregnancy we had decided to not find out the gender of the baby.  We found out with the previous 2 and thought (ok I thought) it would be fun this time to have it be a surprise (Corey didn't so much feel this way but agreed to go along with it).  So, I had my ultrasound and brought home a CD with the images.  The CD was however blank so one month later at my next check up they gave me a new CD with the ultrasound images.  Late that  night I had forgotten that I hadn't shown Corey the ultrasound so we sat down to look at it.  The first image was the one above..typical for a 10 week ultrasound and this was what we expected to see.  So, you can imagine our surprise when we kept flipping and saw the image below with the words FEMALE printed on it.  We were really confused as 10 weeks is really early to eve be able to tell the sex and they hadn't even asked if we wanted to know etc.  What an anticlimactic way to potentially find out our baby is a girl.  So we had kinda decided that at my 20 week ultraound we would just go ahead and find out the gender b/c we already had in our minds that it was going to be a girl and didn't want that big of a surpris.  I just had an appointment this week and wanted to mention to the doc what happened since it still seemed kinda strange.  She thought it was really strange too and wanted to look into it.  To make a long story short(er) she came back and told me that baby #3 ultrasound was done on 8/16/13 however Adelyn's ultrasound was done on 8/1611.  So when I asked for a new CD with the ultrasound images someone just pulled up the date without looking at the year.  Which meant that yes it was a girl b/c we had been looking at Adelyn's ultrasound pictures.  Made much more sense now (and as I was writing this I did realized that the ultrasound pic is dated 2011 but at the time I wasn't looking that closely at it).  So now we are back to really not knowing the gender and I am hoping to keep it that way.  We will see..... 

Adelyn at 21 months

Its hard to believe that Adelyn (our little "Addie Girl") is going to be 2 in just  few months.  She isn't a baby anymore.  She is very sweet but you can definitely tell she is approaching the 2 year mark as we have our fair share of tantrums (ie screaming and down flat on the ground and of course its usually over the important things like when i tell her no more chocolate milk or when i tell her to be done with my lipgloss, etc).  She definitely has quite the personality and is full of life--from the moment she wakes up till the moment she goes to bed.  She loves her babies and her de-des (blankies).  She will often carry multiple dolls and multiple blankies around with her wherever she goes and has a bed full at night when she sleeps.  She is definitely a girly girl and loves bags (think purse) that she an stuff full of whatever, lipgloss, nail polish, jewerly, shoes (she usually likes to pick her shoes and will wear multiple pairs each day), etc.  Yet at the same time she is pretty rough and tough.  She wrestles with Daddy (and yes usually ends up hurt) and is just as wild and crazy as Micah is.   She loves to play with Micah---and by play I mean take his toys and throw them across the room (which as you can imagine doesn't go over too well but gives many opportunities to teach Micah that even though someone doesn't treat you right you can still do the right thing back---never a shortage of teaching opportunities now only if I can be patient enough to cease them instead of get frustrated).  But anything that he does she has to do.  If he is a firefighter with his boots she needs boots too, if he is a football player she needs a jersey, if he laughs she laughs, if he runs she runs, etc.   She loves to talk about how Daddy got a "pie in the eye" at family camp and how Papa went in the dunk tank (she talks about this seriously all day long).  She has to do everything her self--"no mommy I do it" is what I hear all day long.  Which is wonderful except that she gets so frustrated and mad when she cannot do it and then refuses my help.  She is a great helper around the house and loves to clean (sweep, wipe the floors/counters), put stuff away, shut the cabinet doors, throw garbage away, etc.  I am not sure she fully understands that I am pregnant but she does know that there is a baby in mamas tummy.  It is so cute b/c she will often say that she wants to see the baby and lift my shirt up to give the baby a kiss or she will share her juice with the baby (and her and Micah will crack up when they ask if they can give the baby a pie in the eye!).  She is a sweet little girl, yes a handful at times (ok most of the time which I know is a lot due to her age), but we love Adelyn and are thankful she is a part of our family!!

I know summer is over but.....

I guess its not too late for a very abbreviated look into what we did over these last few months. 

 Lots of parades/festivals, bike rides, graduation and grad party for Jori (she is now a freshman at Anderson), beach, mini cooper rides, shaving in the bathtub, the fountain downtown, train ride, water table, pink fuzzy boots, and oh yeah in case you hadn't heard the news we are expecting baby #3 this march (which will explain the lack of blogging-- these last couple months were a matter of survival!!), VBS, blueberry picking, our garden (or attempt I should say), our annual trip to Lincoln Park Zoo with Corey's side of the family, like brother like sister, washing the car, youth fair, visit from our good friends The Lehmans (their kids Nolan and Isla), and oh yeah high heels!  Not pictured were many more trips to the beach, lots of parks, time at the Point O Woods pool with my dad/step mom and sisters, trips up to Gull Lake and fun on the boat and jet ski, tubing, and kayaking, a trip for Corey and I to New Orleans, Labor Day weekend family camp with my dad and siblings and their families, and much more!  This is a GREAT place to be in the summer and we are thankful!!!!!

Spring Happenings

 

Bike Riding With Daddy--Micah got a balance bike for his b-day and he does awesome on it. Corey and I got bikes from his parents for Christmas.  We just got a double trailer last night so we are all set now!

Memorial Day Parade--Corey's mom and I and the kids spent Friday downtown walking, rent for a carousel ride, had a picnic, and then Corey joined us for the parade.  It was a tad chilly (like 48 degrees) but we had a great time.  Micah was of course THRILLED about the police motorcycles and firetruck and also the people throwing candy!

We love going to the park and are thankful there are so many around.  Adelyn LOVES to swing but is actually pretty fearless when it comes to the playground equipment.
